August 20, 2019 - REPORT FROM THE ROAD: I slept at Sowing Seeds Farm near Live Oak last night. Holy mackerel, what kind hospitality I was shown by Chris Cash and his family. A wild forest makes up the back part of the 27-acre property. Thanks Chris (the land owner and dear friend)! Thank your wife and kiddos again for me. And Chris, I'll create and post a larger photo set to flickr soon.
PHOTO: A CORRUGATED MILKY CAP, Russulaceae - Lactifluus (formerly Lactarius) corrugis. An absolutely deeeeelicious edible mushroom. By the way, it was not growing on this rock, I placed it there.
Also seen:
- CAROLINA DESERT CHICORY, Asteraceae Pyrrhopappus carolinianus, with a visiting grasshopper.
- WOOLY CROTON, also known as Hogwort, Euphorbiaceae Croton capitatus. Up close shot of the unusual flowers on this gorgeous native plant with silvery leaves.
- SLIMLEAF PAWPAW, Annonaceae Asimina angustifolia. A rare find for me.
